It’s a Porn world after all!

Step aside women and children, it’s a Porn world at the whim of men’s desires. But we aren’t stepping aside and we will not be silent bystanders to the continual degradation of our sex, especially in front of our children’s eyes.

‘Questions for Women’ and I are about to tackle this sexually discriminating issue in Australia head on, so tonight I popped into my local service station for a few quick snaps of this.

About 15 centimetres from the floor
CAM00090
Hmmm ‘Bap Pap Snaps’ at about a 2-3 year olds height
CAM00091
Another, 15 centimetres from the floor, ‘Slutty selfies; smartphones + girls = wow!’
CAM00093
And look a 5-6 year old child who would be eye height to ZOO mag – which is unrestricted you know, so this child could actually legally buy a copy
CAM00094
30 seconds later another child who had to walk past these with his father so they could pay for petrol, unless his father did a runner or locked him in the car
CAM00098
A lovely porn experience for the whole family at you local BP Connect/Wild Bean Cafe

I was in the store for the total of 2 minutes and the next customer to walk in was a single late 20’s Male. And boy did I get mansplained!

Male customer – It’s illegal to take pictures inside a shop.
Me – So is displaying Porn in front of children.
Male customer – They are everywhere so get over it.
Me – They ARE everywhere, that’s my point.

Stay tuned for news and calls to action of our new campaign to remove these Lads’ Mags from public and family friendly spaces in Australia, here and at questionsforwomen.org And remember, United we are powerful!!
Let the battle begin!

Hear the effects of a pornified culture in everyday life here, by Melinda Tankard Reist. Quote below;

“If good people rose up in mass against this (sexualisation and pornified culture) around the world, the corporations would have to change their behaviour. (The public need to) Take action, not only in their personal lives by boycotting this culture and not buying into it, they also need to take the debate up with their regulatory bodies that are supposed to be protecting our children from this stuff. In Australia we’ve targeted the advertising standards board and the classifications board which have completely failed us. And also we need to take it up with our politicians, with our members of parliament and ask them ‘what are you going to do about it, what commitment can you give us to address this toxic issue which is having demonstrable negative physical and emotional outcomes in children?’… In Australia we have 6 year old girls being hospitalized with eating disorders because they hate their bodies…. In Australia 1 in every 100 women have anorexia, 1 in 5 have bulimia, 1 in 4 wants to have cosmetic surgery, and deliberate self-harm has become the highest cause of hospital admissions for girls between the ages of 13 and 19. Children are being raised in a shadow cast by pornography…. All the global research says – this is damaging, this is dangerous and it’s getting worse, so if we truly care about the health and wellbeing of young people (and women) we need to address this as a matter of urgency”

  1. Reblogged this on Questions for Women and commented:
This is my partner in crime!
She had an all-too-familiar experience at the local servo.
I hope you will join us in shouting – “The Line Has Been Crossed!”
    Deep Breath.

  2. Yes, it is high time that this issue is addressed. What I would like to see is the male voice from guys who are against the hyper-sexualisation of our culture speaking up about the damage being done to male-female relationships. As a father with teen agers, I don’t want this material openly displayed in newsagencies or petrol stations, etc.

  3. Hey Lily. I LOVE your work. I can’t believe that entitled guy (well, I can believe it, but it makes me really angry.) I reckon you should take his comments on and use them to fuel your passion in this critical campaign. Really looking forward to working with you more! Caitlin x

    1. Thanks Caitlin, I LOVE your work too and can’t wait to get this campaign launched! We all deserve so much more than this. Thanks so much for supporting Paula and I in this, you are all wonderful! Big love xx

  4. It’s not just the porn industry that’s damaging to the self-perception of young females; runway modeling also creates a false body image for girls and women. And don’t even get me started on those modeling competitions for little girls—those parents should be beaten with a tack hammer!
